SEPTUAGESIMA SEASON, 2025

Get ready for the Lenten Fast!

NOTICE 23 February, 2025:   After 21 years of this website's existence, it is due for an overhaul later this year.   I remember sitting down at the computer in late 2003, after returning from an extended visit to the States, and setting it up.   Since then, hundreds and hundreds of customers have used this site to place orders to send me inquiries for their design projects.   Hundreds of Processional Canopies have gone out to parishes, some of which had not had a Eucharistic Procession for decades.    The fastest selling time for a canopy was just four hours (on Ebay), for a canopy sewn in 2006!  Gone are those days, especially since 'Covid'.  Hopefully, the transfer of the site to a more interactive one won't be too difficult or excessively expensive.

This little website has travelled with me over the top of Australia, when I drove almost 9,000km to return from Perth, Western Australia, to Queensland to help my dying mother.  She was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease in July of 2008, and it was a very difficult time for my Dad and siblings.  Mum passed away on 17th November, 2009.  I was stunned at the amount of people, some complete strangers, who sent me condolences and wishes of sympathy.   I then spent 18 months in the tropical city of Cairns, Far North Queensland, where the sewing continued.  Then I returned to Brisbane to help Dad, as he grew older.   I devoted much time to him, even after he had to go into full time care.  At the same time, I continued the sewing and Dad was amazed when I showed him the log book of hours clocked up in early 2017.  It was an astronomical number of hours over a short period of time, averaging up to 50+ hours a week.  Dad passed away in late 2018, and I was left to grieve his departure as best as I could.   My goal in life to save my soul and no be a burden on anyone before God calls me to Eternity, whenever that will be.  I'm slowing down a little, now that I'm over 60, but I thank God every day for this vocation to sew vestments and related items for over 25 years now.    I also bless God daily for giving me good and holy parents, and for having a CATHOLIC PRIVATE EDUCATION!
